CHRISTOPHER F. WANAT

Christopher F. Wanat graduated with Honors and Distinction with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Connecticut College in 1984. He received his Juris Doctorate degree from The Dickinson School of Law in 1987, where he served on the Law Review. He is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell and has been selected as one of the Best Lawyers in America® for his work in Defense Litigation.


He began his career at Tyler, Cooper & Alcorn and formed his own firm in 1992. In 2005, Attorney Wanat was appointed by Federal District Court Judge Janet Bond Arterton to serve as a Special Master for the District of Connecticut. For over 10 years, he has served as Adjunct Professor at The University of Connecticut School of Law, currently teaching the Intensive Trial Advocacy course. His practice is focused on cases involving commercial disputes, contractual law, products liability, construction, automobile negligence, premises liability, medical malpractice, municipal liability, and toxic torts. In 1998, Attorney Wanat was Board-Certified as a Trial Attorney in Civil Trial Advocacy by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. He was re-certified in 2003, 2008, 2013 and 2018. Attorney Wanat has tried multiple jury cases to verdict, in addition to participating in numerous arbitrations, both as an advocate and arbitrator.


Attorney Wanat is admitted to practice in the Connecticut State Court, the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. Attorney Wanat has also served as mediator for hundreds of complex litigation matters and also participates on the CBA Fee Dispute Panel. Attorney Wanat has also appeared before the Connecticut Supreme and Appellate Courts and regularly participates in seminars regarding litigation issues. Attorney Wanat is a member of the American Association for Justice and the Connecticut Defense Lawyers Association, the Defense Research Institute, and the Tort and Insurance Practice section of the American Bar Association. Attorney Wanat has been regularly selected by a peer review process as a Top Attorney in New England by Super Lawyers Magazine. Attorney Wanat was also selected as one of ten Connecticut mediators to the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals. Attorney Wanat has been elected by the Board of the American Bar Foundation to be a Fellow.
